We launched Player+ in 2021 after listening to thousands of TV viewers around the world. With over 30,000 hours of video content being added to streaming platforms every hour, audiences were finding it increasingly difficult to find what they're really interested in, so we set out to fix it.
We then spoke to hundreds of broadcasters, content owners, studios and talent and they all had challenges getting their content out to audiences, with limited ways to build direct customer relationships with their viewers, fans and followers, so we set out to solve this for them.
Player+ brings together, aggregates and curates premium content in category-specific TV Apps with a two-sided marketplace:
For viewers - the convenience of having genre-based content in one app. With the pandemic taking a grip on the world we launched NewsPlayer+ - bringing the world's leading news channels together in one place. We then released StagePlayer+, bringing a world of Performing Arts content, including West End theatre shows and the greatest music concerts, comedy shows, opera and ballet, all together in one single destination hub.
For content owners - we use a collaborative model championing empowerment. Distribution offers global reach (500M+ households) and access to viewer data and fair revenue share.
We're rolling out our subject-specific TV Apps on all the main streaming devices and platforms. We're currently reaching more than 500 million households around the world. And more categories are in the works for release in 2023.
Our rapid growth across UK, Europe and Africa is being followed with the launch of Player+ TV Apps across North America and Asia Pacific in 2023.
